Alongside Sandra, John envisioned a business that would prioritise customer needs, leading to the inception of Waste Options and securing their first client in April 2014. Originally from New Zealand, John brings a unique perspective and a strong commitment to delivering exceptional service across both Australia and New Zealand.
With a proven track record in leading people and driving business transformation, John focuses on achieving organisational excellence through effective leadership. Since launching the business alongside John in April 2014, Sandra has been instrumental in developing the internal systems and operational standards that support Waste Options’ commitment to service excellence.
With a strong background in sales and organisational leadership, Sandra is known for her practical approach and steady oversight. She ensures the day-to-day operations run smoothly, supporting both the team and the company’s wider strategic goals. Paul has been the National Operations Manager at Waste Options for over five years. With a background in senior and executive roles at a leading national waste and recycling company, Paul brings a wealth of experience to support both Waste Options staff and clients across all facets of the industry service value chain.
Paul entered the resources sector over 15 years ago, drawn by the dynamic, fast-paced nature of the industry and the opportunity to make a positive, lasting environmental impact through client networks. He finds this combination both fun and rewarding, making it a fulfilling career path.
At Waste Options, Paul’s responsibilities include overseeing contractor and key client management, driving business improvement initiatives, managing the national account managers, and ensuring safety and compliance. He is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of service, safety, and efficiency for our clients. Paul’s forward-thinking approach ensures that Waste Options remains agile and adaptive, ready to tackle any challenges that arise.

At Waste Options, the seamless management of our financial operations is crucial to our success. Shahnaz, as the Head of Accounts, plays a pivotal role in ensuring our financial processes are efficient, accurate, and reliable.
Shahnaz has led the accounts team for more than six years with a focus on automating accounting processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency. She oversees accounts payables, ensuring that suppliers are paid accurately and on time, thereby preventing any disruptions in services. Her responsibilities extend to managing the company’s finances, including accounts receivables and payroll, ensuring the accuracy of invoices received from both suppliers and to customers, and overseeing tax submissions and applications.
She is also dedicated to the training and development of the accounts team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. Her leadership and innovative approach have significantly contributed to the company’s financial stability and operational excellence, earning her recognition for promoting accuracy, efficiency, reliability, and cost reduction.

Jarrod, our Head of Subcontracting & Compliance at Waste Options.
With over 200 contractors across Australia and accreditations in ISO 9001, 45001, and 14001, Jarrod plays a pivotal role in overseeing our subcontractors and ensuring compliance with both customer requirements and ISO standards.
After 22 years in the Freight Forwarding industry, where he liaised with suppliers and customers, Jarrod sought a new challenge and joined us at the beginning of 2023. His extensive experience with various systems has made him appreciate our user-friendly online compliance portal, which is free for our contractors.
In addition to his primary role, Jarrod also serves as our Events Coordinator, always ready with a costume to match any occasion.

David is dedicated to helping our customers achieve their sustainability goals. He assists with GECA and NABERS requirements while driving continuous improvement in waste diversion and avoidance.
The high-quality, accurate data produced by Waste Options provides a clear picture of our customers’ successes and areas for improvement. David collaborates with our customers’ sustainability teams to enhance training, improve signage, and implement new recycling streams.
Our extensive contractor network includes some of the most innovative resource recovery businesses in the industry, giving David the tools to maximize waste diversion. At Waste Options, circular solutions are a priority, focusing on reuse options and engaging with emerging resource recovery companies to foster a healthier, more diverse industry.
With 25 years of experience in sustainability, starting in Landcare and progressing through a career in FM, David understands the business pressures faced by building managers and aligns our solutions to meet their needs

Karen is a seasoned commercial and industrial professional with over 20 years of industry expertise, now contributing her extensive knowledge to Waste Options.
Throughout her career, Karen managed relationships with some of the world’s most prominent organisations across various sectors, including transport, healthcare, and aged care. She possesses a deep understanding of customer needs and expectations and is dedicated to developing strategies that meet these demands.
Based at our Sydney Head Office, Karen oversees multiple Waste Options customer portfolios. She drives change and improvement by collaborating closely with customers and Account Managers to assess the feasibility of new solutions and ensure their seamless implementations through comprehensive training and transition to new platforms and tools.
